If you are on a water map then you generally want to build a dock at some point in the Dark ages. When you hit Castle Age, you should be looking to build more TCs to make more villagers. You don't always need to make militia in the Dark/Feudal Age, especially if you aren't being attacked or planning on attacking. You can eventually put farms around the mill once it is safe. This allows you to quickly garrison inside your TC for protection much quicker than if they were at the mill. Your first few farms should be around your TC. Find them and put (at least) your first 6 villagers on them.ĭon't put all of your first farms around the mill. Most maps have at least 8 sheep/turkey near your TC. Reasearch loom and send a villager out to shoot the boar TWICE (if you shoot it once it will not chase) and then run back to your TC where you should have villagers ready to kill the boar. Use your boars - every map has at least 2 boars near your TC. This halts your entire economy, if villagers are in danger then only send those villagers to garrison somewhere.

I've played quite a few games on the HD version so far and majority of the players I've seen have been quite bad so I'm making a list of observations of things people generally do wrong (or don't do at all).
